Sneak peek

July 29, 2008

I’m sure my friends S and P won’t be too surprised to hear that our session on the weekend was my most challenging to date!  I think I’ll blame it on their gorgeous, blonde and boistrous twin boys!  My thighs had a major workout squatting and standing, standing and squatting, and squatting and standing again, while I did my best to capture them in action before one of them either crawled out of shot, tried to eat a stick or got fed up with the scenery. They were such fun though, and I’m really loving some of these shots.

I hope you enjoy this sneak peak guys.

3 weeks later

July 25, 2008

3 weeks after I shot the previous photos of Tiny Miss S and her glowing parents, I was back in Sydney for round two. Unfortunately Miss S wasn’t going to go to sleep for anyone, even after lots of milky goodness, but she lay in her birthday suit on the couch on a nice soft blanket for a very long time while I snapped away. She was happy and content the entire time, but if she lost sight of the camera for more than a few minutes she started fussing. We joked about her getting ready for a modelling career already. It’s fine by me: this beautiful little girl will be photographed a lot if I have anything to do with it, so I’m glad we’re off to a good start.

The light at their place isn’t great, so I used my speedlite for all these shots (except for the outdoors one). And I’m hoping to start a new trend with this ‘awake newborn’ thing. It seems to be happening to me a lot lately!

Hope you enjoy this sneak preview J and J: there are so many beautiful shots from the weekend it was a bit of a challenge to pick these few out.

Time flies when you’re…

July 19, 2008

I can’t believe it’s been a month since my last post! It’s not like I haven’t been taking photos in that time either. Just this week I processed over 2GB worth of photos, and I still have the results of another 3 (informal) shoots awaiting my attention!

I’ve been busy meeting newborns (one of which may be my future daughter-in-law, ha ha!), preparing for and hosting my son’s first birthday party (omg, how fast did the year go?!) and returning to part time work after 14 months maternity leave (no comment).

Here is the evidence:

This is Tiny Miss S (birth weight: 2.9kg) born naturally on June 19. She’s the first born of my best friends J and J and I was thrilled to be able to make it to Sydney within 24 hours of her birth to meet her and congratulate her glowing parents. Here are a few of the informal shots I took over the 24 hours that I was there.

Safe

About a week later I got to meet another good friend’s newborn baby boy! It was by no means a proper photo session, but I still got to capture a few lovely moments. Meet Master A at three weeks old.

Hello!

Little Master A

Smiles!

And finally, here is a storyboard of my son Toby (the photos were taken just a couple of days before his first birthday) and a photo of his birthday cake, made by moi.
