It was one of those days when it’s a minute away from snowing and there’s this electricity in the air, you can almost hear it. And this bag was, like, dancing with me. Like a little kid begging me to play with it. For fifteen minutes. And that’s the day I knew there was this entire life behind things, and… this incredibly benevolent force, that wanted me to know there was no reason to be afraid, ever. Video’s a poor excuse, I know. But it helps me remember… and I need to remember… Sometimes there’s so much beauty in the world I feel like I can’t take it, like my heart’s going to cave in.
I doubt there are many people who wouldn’t remember that quote, even if they’re not sure exactly where they heard it. I came across it again recently, and I can still remember how it made me feel when I heard it for the first time.
When our hearts are open, beauty is easy to see…

Yet when we’re hurting and we want to hide, we hardly notice it. It’s still there, though… and if we can just still our minds for a minute and open our eyes, we’ll see it, and everything else will melt away.

Christine Pobke - I adore that quote. I actually just saw that movie about two weeks ago, when it was on TV… That first shot is artistically BEAUTIFUL, Katie… Gorgeous colours and textures and processing and frame. Love the purple with the gold. So true – we just need to open our eyes and look.
