There are some experiences in life that are hard to describe in a way that does them justice. So I’m going to try and keep this short (for me) and let my images do the talking.
After our family holiday, I had another whole week in Byron, most of which was spent with 16 like-souls on a creative retreat. It started with a beautiful sunset on the main beach in Byron and finished similarly. It was a week full of love, joy, fun and freedom and I left refreshed, rejuvenated, and reminded of the richness inside me. I have taken with me some pretty special memories that are unlike anything else I’ve ever experienced, and some beautiful new friendships that have truly rocked my world.
When you hear about someone ‘going on retreat’, you tend to think of yoga, buddhism, or some kind of health detox; not a bunch of artists having a ridiculously good time together. Funny really, because most of the people I’m close to in my life (and not just artists) would benefit enormously (and love the experience of) a creative retreat like this one. There really should be more opportunities like it out there.
At the end of the retreat I got to spend a bit of extra time with some other cherished friends from Brisbane & surrounds (thank you again so much girls, for coming to hang out in Byron for the night) and then shoot a beautiful wedding the following day with another great friend. These images capture the spirit of my week, and just a few of the amazing people I got to spend time with. Most of them were taken during two sunrise expeditions we took during the week. Massive thanks to my dear friend Robyn for the images of me and Amy.
It’s been so lovely to share some personal news and images on my blog: I don’t have time to do it much these days, so thanks for reading, and I’ll be back to ‘normal’ programming next week. xo
P.S Quite a few of these images were taken on my iPhone (not just the little square ones either) and the rest with my regular camera gear.
