Heartstory is owned and run by husband and wife team Jeremy Byrnes and Katie Kolenberg. We have two boys; our eldest is 14 and our youngest is 3.5.
Jeremy has been a photographer for his entire adult life. He started off working in Sydney for some big wedding photography studios, and eventually started his own business specialising in weddings and outdoors family sessions on the northern beaches. Jeremy has always been a kid magnet and loves active, adventurous sessions most of all. He’s also a dog lover and is amazing with big groups due to all his wedding experience.
Jeremy has won AIPP NSW Family Photographer of the Year, as well as AIPP ACT Family Photographer of the Year, and in 2018, he won ACT Professional Photographer of the Year. Jeremy is originally from Wagga Wagga.
Katie has been a photographer for about 14 years and founded Heartstory when her eldest was a toddler. Prior to that, she was a graphic designer and web specialist in the ACT public service. She’s lived in Canberra since the late 90s, but grew up in Perth, Tassie and Sydney. Katie is baby-mad and loves anything that celebrates motherhood, particularly pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding. She loves capturing love and connection in her sessions and the Heartstory studio space is her domain (although she also shoots outdoors!).
Katie has won AIPP ACT Family Photographer of the Year several times, as well as the prestigious AIPP Australian Family Photographer of the Year in 2015 and 2017.
In Heartstory, both Jeremy and Katie photograph families. Jeremy takes care of editing, production of artwork and purchasing appointments, while Katie takes care of social media, marketing and strategic business operations.
Katie and Jeremy are passionate about printing photos, so they’re kept forever and become part of your home, not lost in the digital clutter of daily life. They love what they do and the people they get to do it with!
