At Home Photo Sessions
Make your photography session more personal, intimate and unique
We’ve been photographing families at home and on rural properties for over 15 years. We’ve won national awards for many images from these sessions because of their meaning, uniqueness and story.
It’s important to consider an at home or rural session as an additional personal commitment to your unique photography collection, and not ‘because it’s easier’. It’s rarely easier for either the photographer or the family to do a session at your place. In fact, it usually requires extra effort on your behalf to consider locations and tidy up, and extra effort on our behalf in terms of travel, scouting, light direction and creative vision. However, it’s always worth it!
Why have your photography session at your place
These kinds of sessions allow you to incorporate all sorts of personal things into your session, including:
- animals that can’t travel
- meaningful places and spaces
- a more personal family story
- historical, collector or sentimental items that can’t be transported
- activities that can’t be transported
- your connection to land and country
- your passion for your home, design or architecture
If you’re fond of environmental portraiture (one of the things we are known for at Heartstory), you should definitely consider a shoot at your place, especially if you live in a beautiful home or a rural property. Environmental portraiture is photography where the environment (regardless of what the environment is) tells as important a part of the story as the people. On a rural property this could be expansive views of your land with your family walking through it. These photos nearly always lend themselves to stunning large format wall art, so do consider your desired outcomes and look at our product range, particularly framed prints and wall art.
